Shakhawat Hossain Shamim is the head of BAIUST– Law Department. He has completed his graduation and post-graduation from Stamford University and Northern University respectively with 1st position. Mr. Shamim has completed his second Masters on Human Rights and International Law from University of Keele with prestigious British Commonwealth Scholarship. His MA dissertation has been awarded for the Professor Patrick Thornberry Best Dissertation Prize with distinction. He did his internship at the headquarters of United Nations, Geneva-Switzerland. He was also awarded for Asia Pacific scholarship for human rights and democratization (but declined). Mr Shamim has received the PhD Scholarship from University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. Mr. Shamim has started his teaching career in 2009 as lecturer of BGC Trust University and then moved to BUBT in 2013 as Assistant Professor. Before that he was the Journalist of Daily Prothom Alo and Daily Star law page. He has done an extensive funded research work on India-Bangladesh enclave people. Couple of more research articles has been published in national and international journals. He is the founder of Free Legal Aid Camp in Bangladesh. He has been appeared in National TV and FM radio talk-show for many occasions. His short-stories collection book ‘Chayer Kape British Brishti’ and ‘Mukhorito Mownota’ have been published respectively in 2020 and 2014 Ekushey book fair. Mr. Shamim is also an advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He loves to travel and so far he travelled India, UAE, England, Scotland, Wales, Switzerland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey and China.
